• Hi Damilola Joseph, kindly tell us more about your role at Flagright.

I'm responsible for everything between marketing and gaining new customers. I also find ways to revive inactive customers and simultaneously minimize expenditure costs.

  • Have you always wanted to work in marketing? What’s the story behind that.

I have a background in biochemistry, so not exactly. I've always been a naturally curious and adaptive person, in addition to being interested in learning and doing things outside my knowledge. And being able to adapt and evolve with situations was crucial in marketing and growth in general.

  • What made you want to work for Flagright?

I think it started from loving the idea of working for a startup that was trying its best to break away from the norm of not caring about the problems fintechs faced - but instead helping them with the best solutions to stopping whatever form of financial crime they might be facing. Spreading the word was a privilege!

  • What does a regular day's work look like for you?

A regular day’s work for me starts quite early and almost always begins with a cup of coffee. Read for about an hour, go through my calendar to confirm my meetings for the day plus other scheduled tasks, and map out how I plan to run through all of it.

  • Tell us something you’ve learned while working at Flagright that has contributed to your personal growth.

I've learned a whole lot of things while working at Flagright. From learning how to do things in the smartest way possible, to self-control, being more patient, and probing for details about challenges people face without being too confrontational about it.

  • What do you like to do when you're not working on a task?

That’ll be reading and learning about new terms or happenings in the market, traveling to new places, listening to music, and sleeping when I need to.

  • How would you describe your role at Flagright to a teenager?

In simpler terms, I help spread the word about what we do at Flagright, speak to a lot of people about their problems, and try to see if I can solve them as easily as possible.

  • What do you enjoy most about your job at Flagright?

I enjoy the fact that I meet and engage with new people every day, learn more about the challenges they're currently facing and how much of a problem it's caused, and then discuss with them how Flagright has been making strides to solve similar problems and help them.

  • What are your thoughts on the compliance industry and Flagright's solution?

Money laundering and terrorist financing have severe adverse effects that reach well beyond the immediate impact of the crimes. They increase corruption, violent crime, cost of banking, job losses and can destabilize companies, industries, and even developing nations.

Thus, combating criminal activity at its most vulnerable point – where criminals or terrorist organizations seek to convert their illicit funds into funds that cannot be traced to their crimes or to the attacks they seek to fund – is essential.

For this reason, Flagright constantly improves its product suite to steadily become an all-in-one AML compliance tool; from real-time transaction monitoring, dynamic risk scoring, KYC/KYB, sanctions, and crypto screening, and even fintech licensing support, all with the main goal of helping fintechs and startups fight financial crime.
